An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-door Nissan Skyline hardtop in the 2000GT-R version of 1973, that is the generation carrying the designation KPGC110. It is one of the most sought-after Japanese classics of all. The scale is 1:24, the model is made by the Japanese firm Aoshima and it is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The C110 generation Skyline arrived in 1972, and its top GT-R standard followed on from the older, very successful racing model. The car received a two-liter inline six with twin camshafts in the head and rear-wheel drive, together with flared fenders, a front spoiler and a characteristic pair of round tail lights. Series production of the GT-R of this generation lasted only a very short time and few cars were built, which made them a collectors' rarity. Because of the conditions of the day, this version took practically no part in racing.
A Japanese classic stands on its chrome, and chrome is the easiest thing to spoil. Never cut plated parts off the sprue tight with nippers, but leave a margin and clean the remainder up, otherwise the finish will flake away around the gate. An exposed spot can be disguised with silver paint applied with a fine brush, ideally a shade with a fine pigment. Never treat chrome with a clear coat containing strong thinners, as it will go dull. If the factory plating does not suit you, strip the part in a cleaning product containing hypochlorite and repaint it in gloss black followed by a coat of silver meant for chrome; the result has more depth than the original finish. Go over window frames and trim strips with a brush only once the body paint has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
