The real subject

The Nissan Silvia of the S14 generation was sold in North America under the 240SX designation. During production it went through a rework of the front end: the late version differs from the early one in the shape of the nose, above all the headlights and the front bumper. The difference is striking enough that both forms of the car are recognized at first glance and builders distinguish them consistently.

What the set solves

The set replaces the front part of the body of the model so that it matches the late version. A kit in 1:24 scale tends to be made in one form of the car, and rebuilding it into the other means either demanding shaping or exactly this exchange of the whole front end for a finished part. According to the name the set is cut for the kit from Fujimi, so reckon on that as the donor model.

Building and painting tips

• Try the seating dry before you cut into the kit.
• Reckon on the fitting calling for the corresponding part of the kit piece to be cut off and the joint sanded.
• Make the cut with a margin and sand down to the final line; material can always be removed and is harder to add.
• Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; cyanoacrylate holds on resin and metal.
• Wash and degrease the part before painting and fill the joint, so that the transition onto the body disappears under the paint.
