A photo-etched set of racing seat belts in 1:24 scale, in a blue finish. An accessory for the interior of a car model.
Responsibility details are not available.
After the seat, racing belts are the thing in a cockpit that the eye notices. They hold the driver firmly in place, run across the shoulders and the hips and end in fittings anchored to the shell of the car. A kit usually does not contain them at all, and when it does, it is a coarse plastic molding. A photo-etched set deals with this shortcoming: the parts have a thickness matching real webbing, so a belt looks like a belt and not like a railing.
The set brings racing belts in 1:24 scale in a blue finish. The abbreviation PE in the name stands for photo-etched, that is metal parts etched in a fret from which they are cut out. The exact make-up and the number of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors; sand the tab right down. Photo-etched parts will not bond with polystyrene cement, so use super glue or a two-part adhesive and degrease the surface beforehand. Make the bends along the marked grooves over the edge of a ruler or a bending tool. When you fit them, let the belt sag slightly: real webbing never sits taut like a string, and it is precisely that curve that tells it apart from wire. It can be painted only once it is glued in place; leave the metal fittings in a steel shade.
For builders of car models in 1:24 scale who are finishing off the interior. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
