This type came about at a time when most compact cars were going over to front-wheel drive; precisely for that reason the light rear-wheel-drive car kept a special standing. A high-revving four-cylinder engine with a valvetrain with two camshafts, a low weight and a balanced chassis made it an instrument with which even a technically demanding mountain road could be mastered.
