Silencer SPEC R 1:24 is a sports exhaust tip for a car model in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts. The SPEC R marking tells this variant from the other mufflers in the line.

This item is not a model of a car but a sports muffler with a tip in 1:24 scale. Yamamoto Model Parts makes a whole line of mufflers and the individual pieces differ from one another in the shape of the tip and in the diameter of the mouth; this one carries the marking SPEC R. When you are choosing, it is precisely the abbreviation in the name that identifies the variant unambiguously, as the basic muffler has none.
The exhaust belongs among the elements that are visible on a finished model from a distance, and yet kits deal with it in a simplified way most of the time: the tip tends to be blind, with no hollow mouth. A free-standing part has the mouth hollow and crisply drawn, so the rear of a model comes across markedly more faithfully. For a build of a car of the Japanese tuning scene, a street conversion or a replica of a particular car from a photograph, choosing the right shape of tip is part of the credibility of the whole model.
Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, so that no mold release agent or uncured resin is left on the surface. Cut the casting block or the print supports off with a sharp modeling scalpel, sand the surface over and protect your breathing while sanding. Try the part dry in the chassis to see whether the tip comes out at the right height and in the right plane, as with free-standing parts a little fine-tuning of the connecting pipe is ordinary. Glue it with super glue. The best result comes from metal shades over a smooth glossy base; darken the inside of the mouth with matte black and weather the area around it with a dark pigment, so that the tip does not come across as a new component out of a box.
