An injection-molded plastic kit of the production Corolla Levin coupe of the AE92 generation in the top GT-Z trim, in the late form after the facelift. The model comes from the Japanese maker Hasegawa, which has covered this generation of the Levin in several boxings differing in trim, model year and body extras. The contents of the package and the number of parts are given in the instructions enclosed in the box.
The Corolla Levin of the AE92 generation was built in the second half of the 1980s and for the model it meant the move from the classic layout to front-wheel drive. The Levin differed from its sister Sprinter Trueno in fixed headlights recessed into the body, while the Trueno had pop-up ones. The GT-Z grade stood at the top of the range and was powered by a 1.6 liter sixteen-valve four-cylinder with a supercharger, completed by a more sportingly tuned chassis and richer equipment. The late form brought small changes to the bumpers, the lights and the interior, thanks to which it is easy to tell from early examples. Today the car is among the sought-after representatives of Japanese production of the 1980s.
A production Japanese coupe of the 1980s calls above all for a clean finish and precise work on the window frames. Deal with the black window frames using masking tape or dark decal film, as a hand-held brush tends to show here. Level the parting lines on the roof and the fenders thoroughly before painting. Leave the interior matte, so that it does not compete with the gloss of the body, and fit the headlights at the very end with a glue for clear plastic. If you want a period look, restrained wheels in the factory design with no excessive modifications are the right choice.
