Most builders know the Miami Blue name from the paint of modern sports cars: a light, slightly turquoise-tinged blue that appeared on bespoke bodywork and quickly found its way into interior fittings as well. A color-matched harness belongs to the same idea, that is to a car in which the shade of the bodywork continues onto the door trim, onto the stitching of the seats and precisely onto the straps. The six-point geometry with anti-submarine branches stays the same as in the other variants of this lightweight line.
The printed sheet transfers the bundle onto a model at 1:24 with no need to bend or paint anything. The texture of the print is raised, which shows more strongly with light shades than with dark ones: small shadows along the edges of the strap turn flat artwork into material. The lock and the buckles are rendered in a metallic tone and stand out clearly against the pastel blue.
Light belts are more demanding to build with in one respect: the color of the base shows through underneath them. If the seat is dark, it pays to put a narrow strip of light paint on the places where the straps will go in advance, so that the shade stays as it is meant to be. The rest of the procedure is the usual one, that is soak, transfer, straighten and let dry thoroughly before the model is picked up again.
A final note concerns the area around the seat. On a model at this size the anchoring of the belt to the floor and to the crossbar of the protective structure tends to be clearly visible as well. It is enough to suggest a loop from thin wire or from a strip of plastic, lead the decal up to it, and the difference against a bare shell is apparent at once. A few extra minutes of work turn the cabin into the place a viewer looks at first.
