Sport twin-choke carburetors in 1:24 scale for completing an engine bay. With no tie to a particular car, usable across models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The firm that Edoardo Weber founded in Bologna supplied fuel equipment for almost everything that ran in sport in Europe in the twentieth century. The horizontal twin-choke carburetors known by the abbreviation DCOE appeared on Alfas, Lotuses, Fords and on machines from Maranello, and a pair or trio of them set in a row along the cylinder head became the mark of a powerful engine.
For a builder it is a rewarding piece. It sits high on the engine and is visible as soon as the hood is raised, yet in kits it tends to be simplified into a boxy block with no detail. The form offered has the covers, the bolt heads and above all intake trumpets with open mouths, a detail a mold cannot manage.
No particular car is named in the title and that is deliberate: this type was fitted across brands and suits any engine bay of the corresponding period. Before gluing, check the spacing of the trumpets against the cylinder head on your model and alter the mountings if need be.
The body used to be of an aluminum alloy, which grays and dulls with time, while polished trumpets keep their shine. The lower areas usually stayed darker from heat and oil. It is exactly this difference in surface that does more on a finished model than a precisely mixed shade, so it pays to work with dry pigment and with reflection, not with a brush alone. It also helps to suggest the thin fuel lines running to the individual bodies, without which an engine looks empty.
