An injection-molded plastic kit of a car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Hasegawa. The real subject is the Volkswagen Beetle Type 1, that is the classic Beetle, in the edition of the authored Wild Egg Girls line. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Volkswagen Type 1, known internationally as the Beetle, is among the longest-produced cars in history. A simple concept with a backbone chassis, an air-cooled four-cylinder engine set at the rear and a characteristic rounded body made it a car that sold all over the world and survived decades of small development changes. Precisely for that reason it is a rewarding subject for a modeler: the silhouette is recognizable at once and the car will take a civilian as well as a markedly stylized treatment. The Wild Egg Girls line supplements car models with an artistic strand carrying illustration motifs.
The rounded body of the Beetle is demanding on surface preparation, because every unevenness shows on a curve. Sand the mold parting lines down carefully, apply a filling primer and spray the paint in thin layers. Accent the chrome trim, the handles and the bumpers with a fine brush or use a metallic paint. Lay the decals with the graphic motifs onto a gloss varnish and help yourself with a decal softener, so that they settle onto the curved areas; divide large decals into smaller parts, as they are easier to work with. Finish the interior and the dashboard before you close the body, and protect the glazing with a mask throughout the painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
