A dipping ink in a deep crimson register. It is applied generously, runs into the recesses and engraved lines by itself and darkens the shadow there, leaving only a fainter film of color behind on the raised areas. The bottle has a volume of 17 ml.

Crimson stands between blue and red

This family has the advantage of getting on with both its neighbors. Over a blue base crimson warms things up and gives the blue a regal undertone. Over red or wine, on the contrary, it cools the whole and pulls it into a darker register. Over a neutral gray it creates a cool colored shadow that is more conspicuous than one would expect, because gray has nothing with which to muddy the tone. Over black or a very dark area mainly the drawing in the recesses remains. The same proportion applies here as with the other tones: the lighter the base, the more the shift of color is visible.

Use

• Stir the contents of the bottle before applying.
• Apply generously, so that the ink runs into the recesses and folds.
• A combination with a blue base gives a more dignified tone, with a red one a darker tone.
• Build up the depth by repeating the coat.
• Try the shade in a hidden place.
