This set of figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer Master Box is the ninth item in its series devoted to the Russian-Ukrainian war. The subject is a sniper group of the Special Operations Forces. It is an addition to a diorama and to vignettes, not a vehicle model.
The Special Operations Forces are a separate branch of the Ukrainian armed forces, and their snipers are among the figures most often depicted in modern dioramas. What is characteristic is the layered gear, the camouflage material carried directly on the clothing and the work in pairs or small groups, where one soldier shoots while the other observes and calls the ranges. It is precisely that division of roles which gives a scene a natural story even when it holds no vehicles at all.
Modern camouflage patterns come out best in layers: first the base tone, then the blotches with a smaller brush and finally a thin glaze to pull it together. It pays to set the gear apart in both shade and sheen so that the straps and pouches do not merge into the clothing. Paint the exposed parts of the body separately and brighten them gradually. Dust on the lower areas settles the figure into the terrain. A matte coat finishes the whole and evens the surface out.
