What the set is intended for

The Lifecolor paint set with the manufacturer code CS50 is put together for a single subject, the uniforms of the Italian infantry of the First World War. The shades in a set like this follow on from one another, so they can be used on one area as a base tone, a shadow and a light, and a modeler does not have to put the paints for one subject together from different lines. The list of shades and the volume of the bottles is stated on the box of the set.

How the paints are worked with

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom while standing. The thinner and the thinning ratio follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Apply in thin layers and let each one dry: one heavy layer will fill the relief of the fabric and rub away the small detail that a figure carries. For an airbrush the thinning has to be greater than for a brush, and check the consistency with a test spray away from the model.

Tips for painting uniforms

Go from the base tone to the recesses and only at the end bring the edges and the folds out with a lighter shade. A shadow belongs in the folds, under the equipment and in the places the light would not reach, while a lightening belongs on the crown of a fold and on the places exposed to wear. Blend the transitions between the shades out with a damp brush while the paint is still fresh. Leather, metal and canvas will then take a different degree of sheen, which brings a whole figure to life more than one more shade.
