This item is not a kit but a mask set for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb in 1:48 scale from the Czech firm Eduard. The shapes correspond to the frames of the glazing, so when painting, the masking out of every little frame by hand falls away. It is the variant for masking the outer side; for the same type the manufacturer also makes a set with the marking TFace, which deals with the inner side of the canopy in addition. On the Hurricane, with its angular, heavily framed canopy, a mask shows its worth a great deal.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British fighter aircraft of mixed construction: the fuselage was formed by a tubular frame with a covering, while the wing on the later versions was all metal. Compared with the Spitfire it was a more robust machine, easier to repair and very steady as a gun platform. The Mk.II version was given the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine. The Mk.IIb sub-version carried twelve machine guns of 7.7 mm in the wing and could carry bombs under the wing, which made it a widely used fighter-bomber. Hurricane Mk.IIb aircraft flew over Britain, in the Mediterranean and in North Africa, and a great number of machines went to the Soviet Union as part of the deliveries there.
The masks are placed on the glazing before the paint is sprayed, on a clean and degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully so that no paint runs under them, and lift them best of all soon after drying, while the layer is still flexible.
