1:350 HMS Ark Royal 1939 part 2 is a photo-etched set from Eduard for a model of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal. It is not a kit of the ship but an add-on for raising the detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, meant for a model of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal as she was in 1939, in 1:350 scale. It is not a kit of the ship but an add-on: thin metal sheet replaces the parts that cannot come out fine in plastic - railings, gratings, ladders and other elements whose thickness is crucial in scale. The set is listed as the second part of a multi-part series, because the range of photo-etch for a ship of that size does not fit onto one sheet.
HMS Ark Royal was a British aircraft carrier taken into service at the end of the 1930s and, when the Second World War broke out, one of the most modern ships of her kind. She carried a closed hangar, a continuous flight deck and an air group whose torpedo Swordfish went down in history during the pursuit of the battleship Bismarck. Ark Royal herself ended in November 1941 in the Mediterranean, where a torpedo from a German submarine sank her.
Cut the photo-etched parts on a firm surface with a sharp cutter, not with scissors, and the edges will stay straight. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the part does not ripple. It is bonded with super glue applied with a pin; on larger areas soldering helps too. Paint the metal parts over a primer meant for metal, otherwise the coat holds badly. Fit the railings only after the deck is finished.
