This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 108B Taifun in 1:48 scale. The ProfiPACK edition is the higher specification from Eduard: besides the plastic parts it holds a set of photo-etched parts (according to the box, color-printed ones for the cockpit as well) and masks for masking the cockpit glazing and the windows precisely. Several marking schemes are available, so you can build the model in various period color finishes.
The Bf 108 was an elegant all-metal low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear, designed in the middle of the 1930s by the Bavarian aircraft factory (later Messerschmitt) as a four-seat sporting and touring machine. The Bf 108B version was powered by the air-cooled inverted V8 Argus As 10. During the Second World War the Taifun served widely as a liaison, courier and staff aircraft; its aerodynamic concept foreshadowed the later Bf 109 fighter. Production continued in France as well, where the machine went on being built after the war as the Nord 1000 Pingouin.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, which dissolves the joint and bonds it firmly. Apply a primer before painting, so that the photo-etched parts and the plastic hold the color evenly. First mask the cockpit glazing with the enclosed masks and paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Glue the photo-etched elements with super glue. Go over the surface with a gloss coat before the decals go on, and a flat varnish will unify the surface at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
