Turned metal barrels for the Colt Mk12 aircraft cannons of 20 mm caliber for the American A-4 Skyhawk attack aircraft in 1:32 scale from the Polish brand Master. The precisely machined barrels replace the plastic parts in a kit and bring a perfectly round section, a sharply drilled muzzle and faithful geometry that injection-molded plastic cannot manage. It is not a model of an aircraft but a metal detail accessory.
A metal barrel solves several weaknesses of plastic at once: it removes the mold seam along the barrel, which would otherwise have to be laboriously filled and sanded, it gives the barrel a genuinely round shape and an open, drilled bore at the muzzle. The result is sharper, more resistant to damage and markedly more realistic in a place on the model that is exposed to view.
Cut the corresponding plastic barrels off according to the instructions and glue the metal parts on with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer for metal so that the paint holds; then paint the barrels in shades of steel.
An accessory, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
