Landing flaps for the Handley Page HP137 Jetstream in 1:72 scale, made for the Amodel kits. The model gains extended high-lift devices and with them a sense of movement.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Jetstream was the last project of its own by the traditional British factory Handley Page. It came about at the end of the 1960s as a small twin-engine turboprop for business passengers and short routes, with a pressurized cabin, a slender fuselage and a surprisingly roomy interior for its size. It did not save the marque, as the firm went under, but the type proved viable and in its later forms it flew for decades on regional routes all over the world.
The set replaces the landing flaps and allows them to be built extended, that is in the position for takeoff and landing. It is made for the Amodel kits in 1:72 scale. Extended high-lift devices are one of the few changes that alter the overall impression of a model without rebuilding the whole aircraft: the silhouette of the wing comes alive and the space that is hidden when they are retracted is revealed.
The original flaps are cut out of the kit carefully: first scribe the outline with a scriber and only then run the blade, and always check twice where the edge is supposed to go. The parts are not polystyrene, so super glue holds the joints. Cut the excess material off a little away from the part, sand the rest and wash and degrease everything before painting. Build both wings to the same template so that the angle of extension is symmetrical. On airliners the inner surfaces of the flaps and the space under them tend to be light, often in the shade of the protective coating, and they readily pick up dirt from service.
For modelers of airliners and business aircraft who want to build a model in the landing configuration. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
