Eduard 1:32 ADLERANGRIFF: Alte Hasen is a sheet of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale for models of German fighters of the summer of 1940. It is an accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a decal sheet on its own in 1:32 scale, that is, an accessory for a model and not a model itself. It belongs to the ADLERANGRIFF themed range devoted to the German fighters deployed over Britain from August 1940. The subtitle Alte Hasen is a period colloquial term, literally old hares, used for pilots experienced in service - those who already had deployments from earlier campaigns behind them. The sheet thus complements the sister set focused on pilots with a high number of victories and offers a different selection of personal and unit markings.
German fighters of 1940 carried a combination of national insignia, tactical symbols of their formation and individual markings. The colors and shapes of these markings differed from formation to formation and changed over time, which is the main reason modelers reach for specialized sheets instead of the decals enclosed with a kit. In the large 1:32 scale even small differences in the treatment of the markings stand out, so the quality of the printing and of the color registration plays a big part.
Work on gloss clear, otherwise air will be trapped under the film and the decal will silver. Do not dip the whole sheet - cut the individual decal off, dip it for a few seconds and let it finish releasing on the paper out of the water; too long a soak washes the adhesive away. Put a thin layer of water or decal softener on the model, move the decal into position with a soft brush and draw the excess liquid off with the edge of a paper towel from the center toward the edges. With large markings over edges and panel lines use a stronger decal softener and let the decal set without interference; it will wrinkle as it dries, but it will straighten out by itself.
This is a decal set, not a model. The kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
