A masking set for spraying the markings onto a model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell AH-1G Cobra was an American attack helicopter with a narrow fuselage and a crew seated one behind the other. It came about as a specialized combat machine and became famous for its service in Vietnam. Characteristic of it are the stub wings with pylons for the armament and the landing skids in place of a wheeled undercarriage. On a model in 1:32 scale the surfaces of the fuselage are large, so markings stand out strongly on them.
Masking parts for spraying the markings onto a model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra in 1:32 scale. The markings are therefore not stuck on as a decal but applied in paint through a mask straight onto the surface of the model.
Stick the mask on only once the base coat is finished and dry. Press the edges down all the way round, so that the paint does not bleed underneath, and spray in several thin coats instead of one heavy one. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, while the edge has not yet hardened; later it peels away less readily. A sprayed marking has no carrier film, so it does not stand out with a sheen on a matte finish.
The set is for modelers who prefer a sprayed marking to a decal and who have experience with an airbrush. The position cannot be corrected once the mask has been stuck down, so lay the placement out on the dry model first. Have the color of the marking ready separately, because a different shade is sprayed from the surrounding finish, and let it only just set before you take the mask off.
The package holds masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
