AML Bf 109 E-3/E-4 with Peil G IV 1:32 - a conversion that adds a radio direction finder with its loop aerial to the Emil.
Responsibility details are not available.
This conversion set from AML lets you build a machine fitted with the Peil G IV radio direction finder out of an ordinary Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3 or E-4 kit. It is not a complete kit - it is a conversion for 1:32 scale that produces a rarely seen form of the famous fighter. According to the name, the manufacturer lists the kits that were taken into account in the design.
The Bf 109 E, known among pilots as the Emil, carried the main weight of the fighter battles over France and England in 1940 and 1941. The Peil G IV radio navigation direction finder, with its characteristic loop aerial behind the cockpit, made it easier to find the way back to base on flights over the sea and in poor visibility, so it appeared on machines operating over the English Channel and the North Sea. On a model it is a conspicuous feature that cannot be missed and immediately prompts questions from viewers.
First measure out the position of the aerial according to the instructions and period photographs; do not cut into the fuselage until you have checked the position twice. Dry-fit the new parts, fix the joints drop by drop and fill any resulting gaps before the primer goes on. Finish the whole conversion before you start the camouflage.
