A set of painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:32 scale. The masks are cut precisely and serve to cover the frames of the canopy, the glazed areas and usually the wheel tires as well while paint and varnish are sprayed on. Thanks to their exact shape, sharp and clean edges result without laborious hand masking with tape. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a standalone model: the masks are used on the matching plastic model of that aircraft, which is obtained separately.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, nicknamed Emil, was a German single-seat fighter. The E-4 version took a major part in the Battle of Britain in 1940; it was powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and carried 20 mm wing cannon.
The masks are carefully separated from the sheet, laid on a clean and degreased surface and pressed down gently so that paint does not run in at the edges. The paint is applied in fine coats, best of all with an airbrush; once dry, the masks are lifted off before the varnish has fully cured. It is a good idea to fill the rest of the glazed areas between the frames with masking tape or liquid mask.
These are painting masks, not an aircraft model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
