A photo-etched set of accessory parts for models of the German Bf 109 G-2 and G-4 fighter in 1:32 scale. It adds thin metal features to a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the main German single-seat fighter of the Second World War, and the G series became its most numerous configuration. The G-2 and G-4 versions are very close to each other and look almost the same, so the set covers them together. The 1:32 scale means a sizable model in which an open cockpit and a landing gear bay are properly visible, and simplified plastic detail in them stands out all the more.
The set brings accessory parts etched from thin metal sheet. Photo-etch replaces places where injection-molded plastic would have to be much thicker than the real part for production reasons: the instrument panel, seat belts, levers and handles, grilles, flaps and flat stiffeners. Check the particular contents of the fret, and the kit the set is cut for, in the manufacturer's documentation.
In a larger scale photo-etch is more comfortable to work with than in a small one, but the same rules apply. Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remaining tab down. Make the bends along the etched groove on the back of the part, over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, and make them in one pass. They are bonded with a tiny amount of super glue. Before painting, degrease the sheet and give it a coat of base color, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal and will flake off while it is handled.
The model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
