This resin detail set from Aires in 1:32 scale replaces the wheel bays of a model of the F-104G/S Starfighter fighter. It is not an airplane model but a resin accessory for a kit, which replaces the simplified bays from the base kit with a faithful structure of walls, ribs and lines. The set is intended for more experienced modelers and is supplied as resin castings to be assembled and painted.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter had a slim fuselage and thin short wings, into which and into the fuselage the landing gear retracted. Faithfully cast wheel bays with interior structure are among the details that markedly lift the look of a model with the gear either retracted or extended. The F-104G version and the export F-104S share the basic landing gear layout.
Wash the mold release residue off the parts, separate the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The bays come out well with light interior shades, a wash into the recesses and a fine accent on the lines and the ribs. Check the fit with your particular kit before installing them.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
