A colored set from Quinta Studio for the interior of the F-104S fighter in the ASA standard. It takes care of the most demanding part of the whole build, that is readable instrument panels and side consoles, and saves hours spent over the thinnest brush you own.
ASA is the abbreviation for the Italian weapons system renewal program of the 1980s. In it the machines received a new radar able to track targets below the horizon, additional and more modern guided missiles, and a revised fit-out of the pilot's station. Externally, examples modified this way differ very little from the older ones; the difference is mainly inside, and that is exactly why it pays to give the cockpit extra attention on a model.
Finish the cockpit tub first and only then get to work on the fuselage. Fit from the top downward so that you do not cover finished surfaces with your hand, and always give the part a moment of peace between the individual steps. If you are planning a tilted canopy, save the best panel pieces for the places the viewer will see first. Give the last look to the transitions between the fitted surfaces and the surrounding paint, because that is usually where most shows.
