This item is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory for the cockpit: colored three-dimensional elements printed on decal paper, which are applied as a wet decal. They have real thickness, so the instrument panels, the side consoles, the levers and the straps gain both relief and color. The maker is Quinta Studio and the set is listed for the two-seat F-16D version in the large 1:32 scale.
The F-16D is the two-seat variant of the single-engine F-16 multirole combat aircraft. The second cockpit is set into a lengthened canopy section, so compared with the single-seat version the internal fuel load is reduced, but the machine serves for training as well as for combat tasks with a second crew member. For a modeler this means one thing above all: there are considerably more interior surfaces visible under the long clear canopy than on the single-seat version, which is why the quality of the cockpit shows most on two-seat aircraft.
First finish the cockpits and spray them with the base interior color; the surface has to be smooth and degreased. Cut the element out together with its backing, dip it in lukewarm water, let the film release and move it into place with a soft brush. Press it down with a cotton swab, blot off the excess water and let it dry thoroughly. Do not use decal softeners or fixers at all, not even diluted — they attack the printed resin and warp the relief of the three-dimensional elements. Finally unify the surface with a matte coat; the display screens and the instrument glass come out well under a thin layer of gloss coat. Close the cockpit only once everything is completely dry.
The set is an accessory and does not make up a model on its own. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
