This is a colored decal set for the interior of a model of the F/A-18F in its early form, in 1:32 scale and in the small version. The designation small version comes from the name of the product and sets this item apart from the full set of the same subject. It is not a kit, but an accessory applied to parts that are already built and painted. The dimensions and the shapes follow from the Trumpeter kit.
The F/A-18F is the two-seat variant of the Super Hornet, that is the enlarged and reworked successor to the original Hornet. It differs from the older type among other things in the shape of the air intakes and in a larger wing area. Two cockpits one behind the other offer a large area of detail, which is clearly visible on a model in 1:32 scale.
The most important thing is a glossy and smooth base. Brush a gloss clear coat over the painted part and let it dry completely. Release the decal in lukewarm water, move it into place, align it and blot the excess water away. On shaped surfaces, patient pressing down with a cotton swab helps; the manufacturer forbids a decal softener as well as a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin. Finally, unify the surface with a varnish according to the degree of gloss you want.
The set replaces the flat parts of the kit — a colored print with an impression of depth does the work you would otherwise do with a brush on the smallest areas. Degrease the plastic before applying and level the coarser relief, so that the decal seats over its whole area.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a standalone model. Paints, glue and gloss varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
