1:32 Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat

Painting masks in 1:32 scale for the Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat from 1 Man Army

The item is not an aircraft model but a set of self-adhesive painting masks for painting a finished model in 1:32 scale. The mask is stuck onto a cured coat, sprayed over with paint and removed once dry, so the insignia or lettering is created directly in the finish. The particular extent of the set is not stated here, so go by the instructions enclosed in the package.

Use

• Paint only once the base coat has cured completely, otherwise there is a risk of tearing the surface away.
• Degrease the surface and remove dust before laying down the mask.
• Transfer the mask with tweezers, seat it according to the instructions and smooth the edges carefully.
• Apply the paint with an airbrush in light coats so that it does not creep under the edge.
• Remove the mask shortly after it dries and bend it sharply back on itself rather than pulling it straight up.

Who the set is for

For modelers building in the large 1:32 scale who are bothered by silvering and by the visible edge of decals. Sprayed insignia weather better and blend into the surface. Work with an airbrush and basic experience of masking are assumed.

The real subject

The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat is a single-seat carrier fighter with a cantilever mid wing, a radial engine and the characteristic manually retracted landing gear that folded into the fuselage. The F4F-4 version received folding wings to save space on the decks of ships.

The set does not contain the model, paints or glue. Before you buy, check that the masks match the 1:32 scale kit you are building.
