About product

CMK 1:32 – resin instrument panels for the Heinkel He 111H and P

The product is not a model of an aircraft. These are resin instrument panels for the cockpit of Heinkel He 111 models in the H and P versions, in 1:32 scale. A resin casting has sharper outlines of the individual instruments and deeper relief than the mass-produced plastic part, which is clearly apparent in a large scale, because the glazed nose of the He 111 leaves the cockpit visible over a large part.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was a twin-engine bomber aircraft with a fully glazed forward part of the fuselage and an elliptical wing planform on the older forms. The P and H versions differ above all in the type of the powerplant: the P form used liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz engines, while on the H version Junkers Jumo engines were fitted. The layout of the pilot's station differs between the two versions in detail, which is the reason why the instrument panels for both forms are dealt with together in a single set.

Usage tips

Wash the castings with lukewarm soapy water, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, sand the surfaces down, and when sanding resin work wet and protect your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the panels outside the model: the base in a dark matte color, the dials with a fine stroke of a light color or with a dry brush, and finally a drop of gloss varnish in the instrument glasses. On a glazed nose it pays to give attention to the surroundings of the panel too, because it will still be visible once the cockpit is closed up. Make a dry fit before gluing, as a resin part tends to be thicker than the plastic original.

Who the accessory is for

  • For builders of He 111 models in 1:32 scale
  • For models with a glazed nose, where the cockpit is clearly visible
  • For modelers who want to replace a simplified plastic part
  • For more experienced modelers used to working with resin

This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the match with your own kit.
