This AML set lets you build the Heinkel He 219 night fighter either as the particular pre-production aircraft designated A-074 or as the production A-2 version. Decals for the machine's markings are part of the package. Bear in mind that it is an accessory - the base He 219 model in 1:32 scale has to be bought separately. The set is meant for the Revell kit.
The designation A-074 belongs to one of the pre-production machines of the A-0 series, which served with night fighter units in the defense of the Reich. The He 219 was among the few Luftwaffe types able to catch the fast British Mosquitoes, and crews valued both its powerful engines and equipment that was modern for its day. The production A-2 version then brought further refinements and made up a significant part of the night fighter formations.
It pays to track down period photographs of the machine you have chosen and tune the camouflage and the degree of wear to them. Suggest the exhaust staining with fine shading, and glue the aerials and small protrusions on only after the main painting. Fit the conversion parts to the base model in advance so that the adjoining surfaces do not need needless filling, and work in good light. The He 219 stood on nose landing gear with a tall front leg, so allow for weight in the nose, otherwise the finished model will sit down on its tail. The Uhu was among the first production aircraft with ejection seats, which is a rewarding detail in a cockpit in 1:32 scale.
