An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik in 1:32 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a large and richly equipped kit: besides the plastic parts, the box holds a photo-etched sheet, white metal parts and rubber tires, which raise the level of detail.
The Il-2 Shturmovik was an armored Soviet ground-attack aircraft and one of the most heavily produced combat aircraft in history. An armored shell protected the engine, the fuel and the crew, and the machine was designed for low-level attacks on ground targets: tanks, columns and fortifications. Its armament consisted of cannon, machine guns, bombs and unguided rockets, and later versions had a rear gunner. Its toughness and its service made it a legend of the Eastern Front.
Assemble and paint the cockpit, the engine section and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage and the panels. Glue the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic; glue the photo-etched and metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush in thin coats. Finish the patina with dark washes in the recesses, by picking out the edges, and with pigments for dust and mud effects on the landing gear and the underside of the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
