A joint masking set for both early versions of the Junkers dive bomber, that is the B-2 and the long-range R-2, in 1:32 scale. It holds covering for the glazing from both sides and four stencils for spraying the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The airframes of the two finishes were so close that they differed mainly in fuel management: the R-2 had lines to the drop tanks and tanks in the wing in addition, and otherwise it shared the cockpit, the tailwheel and the cranked wing with the B-2. That is exactly why it makes sense that the shape of the glazing is identical for both versions and one set covers the build whether the modeler decides for the theater over England or for the desert and the Mediterranean. The two forms can then be told apart mainly by their coloring and equipment.
The stencils are cut for the framing of the cockpit from the outside and the inside, and with them go four insignia pieces. Painting thus replaces a decal even where its gloss on matte camouflage would give away that it is a sticker.
The answer is sooner than most builders think. The ideal moment comes as soon as the paint loses its gloss and stops being sticky, so usually within an hour of spraying. A fully cured finish already forms a continuous film and the film, when torn away, breaks small flakes out of it exactly on the edge of the frame. Lifting it into a completely wet coat, on the other hand, smears the edge. The golden middle way gives a sharp line with no step.
