Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the outer glazing of the cockpit and nose of the Junkers Ju 88 A-1 in 1:32 scale, cut to the moldings of the Revell kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 88 was created as a fast bomber meant to escape fighters by sheer performance, and the A-1 version was the first to reach combat units, in 1939. The recognition feature of the machine is a rounded, fully glazed nose made up of dozens of facets, continued by a bulged crew canopy. It is precisely this part that causes the greatest trouble during a build: the framing is dense, irregular and in 1:32 scale every deviation shows.
The package holds films cut to shape for the outer side of the clear parts. A piece is taken off the carrier sheet, laid on the molding and pressed down so that it follows the outline of the frame. After spraying it is peeled off with tweezers. The inner side stays uncovered, so the frames from inside are dealt with by spraying over the mask already in place.
A proven order of work looks like this: first stick the films on, then spray the interior shade and only at the end the external camouflage. The frame thus gets the right color from inside without a special interior set. Take the pieces off the sheet one at a time in the order in which you will seat them; once several of them are lying on the table you will lose track of which one belongs where.
Anyone building this type for the first time should leave the clear nose until the end of the work on the fuselage. The glazing is glued to a finished outline and any gap is leveled with filler, which a film already stuck on would stand in the way of. The set therefore comes into play at the moment when the seam is finished and sanded down.
