Replacement pilot and co-pilot seats for the Westland Sea King helicopter in the HAS.1, HAS.5 and HU.5 versions in 1:48 scale, intended for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Sea King is the British license-built version of the American Sikorsky S-61 helicopter. The HAS.1 and HAS.5 versions served the Royal Navy in searching for and fighting submarines, while the HU.5 served for transport and rescue duties. The pilots' cabin on the Sea King is glazed widely, so you can see into it well through the glazing and the seats in it are among the features that draw the eye most on a finished model.
The set in 1:48 scale replaces the pilot and co-pilot seats and is cut for the Airfix kit. Replacement seats tend to be more intricate than the parts from a kit: thinner walls, modeled padding and a supporting frame give the cabin a depth that a plastic part with thick walls will not produce. How many parts the package holds and how they go together is given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest with fine abrasive paper, so that you do not cut into the shape of the shell. Ordinary liquid cement for plastic will not hold on these parts, so use cyanoacrylate glue in small amounts. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let them dry. Go over the seats with a base color first, then run a dry brush with a lighter shade along the edges and put a darker tone into the folds of the padding.
It suits a modeler building the Sea King in 1:48 scale who wants a cabin worth looking into. Fit and paint the seats before the fuselage is glued together. The paints, the glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
