The pair of ejection seats 1:32 Lockheed C-2 ejection seats for F-104D from the manufacturer Aires will replace the coarse plastic parts in the cockpits.
Responsibility details are not available.
Resin castings of ejection seats of the Lockheed C-2 type for a model of the two-seat training version F-104D. The real subject has its cockpits one behind the other, so the set deals with both seats at once. Behind the brand stands Aires, a manufacturer focused on detailed equipment for aircraft models. The castings carry the shape of the cushion, the backrest and the survival pack under the pilot, that is, shapes which in injected plastic are usually lost.
The first Starfighters had a seat which ejected the pilot downward, because the designers feared a collision with the high-set horizontal tail surface. During takeoff and landing, however, such a solution gave no hope. It was therefore replaced by the C-2 seat firing upward, which a number of aircraft received retrospectively during an upgrade. On two-seat machines, where training was flown at low altitudes, it was a fundamental step forward in safety.
Insert the seats into the cockpits only after finishing the interior painting, as otherwise the edges are easily rubbed. The straps will stand out with a thin glaze and dry brushing; the metal parts only need polishing lightly with graphite. Wash the remnants of mold release agent off before you reach for the primer.
The castings are unpainted; the base aircraft, paints and glue you obtain separately.
