A self-adhesive cut masking set for building a single-seat F-16C in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit, nor a part that would stay visible on the finished model: the masks serve to keep the canopy glazing clean and the frames sharp after spraying. The EXPERT designation means the widest grade of coverage the maker lists for this subject, that is more masked areas than in the basic version. The exact list of masked parts is in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The masks are cut from a film with a sensitive adhesive. It holds firmly enough to keep paint from creeping underneath, and yet lifts off without damaging the plastic. Degrease the part before applying, transfer the mask with tweezers and press it down with a stick or a toothpick. In the large 1:32 scale it pays to start from the corner of the frame and smooth the film out gradually, so that no bubble is left anywhere. It comes off best soon after the paint has dried, slowly and at a sharp angle.
Spray over the mask in thin coats and preferably from the edge toward the center, not at right angles to the edge of the film. A heavy wet coat is drawn under the edge and creates a step that shows clearly in a large scale. It pays to spray the edges of the mask with the interior color first; any creep is then masked by itself. Keep unused masks on their backing paper and store them in an envelope away from heat and direct sun, so that the adhesive lasts longer.
The set contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
