A set of thirty miniature metal turnbuckles in 1:32 scale from GasPatch, in the One End form. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for rigging — the bracing wires of biplanes and other First World War aircraft. The turnbuckles are accurately made metal parts which faithfully replace the real tensioning couplings on the wires and raise the realism of the airframe markedly compared with a plain taut thread.
The package holds 30 metal turnbuckles in the One End form. This form has one end detailed and suits places where only one side of the turnbuckle is in view — for example where the wire enters the surface of a wing or a fuselage. They are fitted onto the bracing wires of historic aircraft, where they form the visible tensioning elements. The metal construction is strong enough to take the pull of a taut wire. The larger 1:32 scale puts even greater demands on the fineness of the turnbuckles, and the detail comes out best here.
Thread the turnbuckle onto the wire (drawn nylon thread or elastic thread, for example) and secure it with a drop of super glue. Deburr the parts before fitting and paint them in a metal, brass or steel color. Work with tweezers and in good light — the parts are very small.
This is a rigging accessory, not an airplane model. The wire, glue, paints and the model are not included in the package.
