A set of resin landing gear wheels with weighted tires for models of the MiG-15bis fighter of the late production series and the MiG-17. This is not an aircraft kit but an improvement to one – and in 1:32 scale, where every detail is in plain sight, it is an improvement that shows especially well.
The MiG-15 made its name in the skies over Korea as the first Soviet jet fighter deployed in large numbers; the improved MiG-15bis version received a more powerful engine. Its successor the MiG-17, with a new swept wing, refined the aerodynamics, and both types then served in dozens of countries for long decades. The later production series differed in details of the landing gear as well – which is exactly why the manufacturer specifies the set for the late configuration.
In a large scale plastic wheels with a mold seam and a soft drawing of the hub will not do. Resin castings offer sharp ribbing of the hubs, brake detail and a naturally flattened contact area, thanks to which the model sits faithfully on the base. After cutting off the casting blocks, sand the cuts and glue the wheels on with super glue, flattening to the ground. The hubs on these machines were usually green and the tires blackish gray; a dark wash and fine chipping of the edges will bring the impression to perfection.
An add-on set – the base model of the aircraft is not included in the package.
