1:32 N1K2-j Shiden KAI In and Out from Dead Design masks the canopy frames of the Kawanishi from outside and from the view out of the cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extended rendition that covers the inner side of the glazing as well as the outer face. The suffix in the name is the only thing that sets it apart from the basic set, and the difference shows only on the finished model. The cockpit of the Shiden Kai has a sliding section with a good field of view, so with the canopy open, or when looking down through the clear pane, the eye falls straight onto the inner edge of the frame. If it stays in the color of the upper camouflage, the whole impression falls apart.
The machine arose from reworking the previous version, whose pedigree reaches back to a floatplane fighter. The new structure received a low-set wing and simpler landing gear, which cut down the failures and made the machine easier to produce. The armament consisted of cannons housed in the wing itself, and in combat with American carrier fighters it was one of the few Japanese opponents that could afford to fight a turning battle even at greater altitudes.
Start with the inner side, while the canopy is still free and reachable from every angle. Once the cockpit shade has dried, mask the outside over and spray the camouflage. Before you fit the glazing, check whether a lump of paint has settled under an edge, because you will not hide it on a clear part later. Leave the lifting of the masks until the finish has set but is not yet fully cured.
