Masks for the national insignia for the Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden Kai in 1:32 scale from the Dead Design brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for the Japanese insignia on a model of the Kawanishi N1K2-J. In a large scale it stands out that a sprayed hinomaru is part of the paint film: pastel or oil streaking can be led over it, it can be scuffed locally, and nowhere is there an edge on which weathering would catch differently than on the surrounding finish.
The Shiden Kai has an unusual pedigree. It came from the conversion of a floatplane fighter, through an intermediate stage with a mid-set wing and long landing gear, to this final form with a low wing, shorter legs and a simplified structure. Automatic combat flaps gave it an agility nobody expected from such a heavy aircraft, and it was made famous above all by one elite naval unit at the end of the war.
Leave the insignia until the end of the color work, but still before the final clear coat. Degrease the base so that no grease from the fingers stays on it, because that decides whether the edge of the circumference stays sharp. Spray lightly, ideally in two passes with a pause. If you let the insignia dry and only then move on to weathering, you can age it exactly as heavily as you need.
This item does not replace a kit of the aircraft, as it deals with the markings.
