This resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer Aires replaces the cockpit on a kit of the P-51 Mustang fighter in the B and C versions in 1:32 scale. This is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that changes the simplified plastic interior for a richly articulated resin replica of the pilot's cabin with an instrument panel, a seat, levers and side panels.
The P-51B/C Mustang was a piston-engined fighter aircraft with a V engine, famed for its long range and for its use as an escort fighter during the Second World War. The B and C versions were marked by a framed cabin canopy. A faithful cockpit is one of the most conspicuous improvements of a model, because it is clearly visible under the transparent canopy.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Sand with respiratory protection. It is advisable to prime the interior, then paint it and pull out the detail with a dry brush and a dark wash; bring the instrument panel to life with a fine varnish on the dials.
The set is supplied as a resin accessory for a kit, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
