A decal set in 1:32 scale aimed at Mustangs of the D and K versions used in the Pacific theater and in Australia. It is not a kit but an accessory with which you can finish your own model in markings other than the box offers. Paints, glue and the model itself are not included in the package. DK Decals is a Czech brand that bases its work on carefully researched Second World War aircraft markings.
The North American P-51 Mustang in the D version received a bubble canopy with a view in all directions and six heavy machine guns in the wing. The K version was built at the Dallas factory and differed mainly in the propeller used, which came from another manufacturer; otherwise it was practically the same machine. Power came from a liquid-cooled V12 engine with a two-stage supercharger, thanks to which the aircraft kept its performance even at great altitude. The combination of long range and high cruising speed made the Mustang a type suited precisely to the vast Pacific theater, where flights were counted in hours over open water.
With the natural metal finish typical of Mustangs, take twice the care over the smoothness of the base - on a polished surface every unevenness shows beneath the decal. Clear-coat the area meant for the markings with gloss clear, even if the rest of the model is left in a metal shade. Soak the decal in lukewarm water, slide it off the paper once it comes free and guide it into place with a brush. Squeeze the water out with a cotton bud, use a decal softener on rivets and lines and let the film dry undisturbed, even if it wrinkles. Finally bring the sheen into line with clear over the whole model.
