This is a resin detail set of SJU-17 ejection seats in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a kit, which replaces the simple seats from the kit with more faithful resin parts. The set is intended for more experienced modelers building the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet or F-14D Tomcat versions.
The SJU-17 is a modern ejection seat of the Martin-Baker NACES family, used in the carrier-based aircraft of the US Navy. It serves for leaving the machine in an emergency across the whole speed range and even at a standstill. A faithfully made seat with raised harness, safety handles and a headrest markedly raises the realism of an open cockpit in a large scale.
First wash the mold release residue off the parts, cut off the casting blocks carefully and join them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Lay down a primer before painting; the seats come out well with a wash into the recesses and a dry brush on the edges of the harness.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
