Montex 1:32 Spitfire Mk.I is a set of self-adhesive painting masks in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for the Hasegawa or Revell kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks from the Polish manufacturer Montex is used to mask off areas while the model is being sprayed, first of all the canopy frames. The shapes are cut to the outlines of the Hasegawa or Revell kit, so there is no laborious measuring and cutting of masking tape. The set is not a model in itself: it is used on a plastic kit in 1:32 scale that you already own.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the British fighter with the elliptical wing. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and armed with 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings. Early aircraft had a two-blade propeller, later replaced by a three-blade unit with variable pitch. The Mk.I carried the typical early wartime British camouflage and is bound up with the period of the Battle of Britain.
The early Spitfire has a great many thin frames, so good light and a magnifier pay off. Lift the masks off the backing with a scalpel or tweezers and carry them without touching them with your fingers. Once they are down, run the blunt tip of a toothpick along the edges. Spray the frames in the interior shade first, then the base color of the underside and finally the upper camouflage; that lowers the risk of the wrong shade showing through under a mask. If you are going to add a clear coat afterwards, take the masks off before it, otherwise the coat seals them to the surface.
This is an add-on masking set, not a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
