A resin accessory from Aires in 1:32 scale. It is not a model but a set of precisely cast replacement main landing gear wheels for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter. The wheels have the covered variant of the hubs. A set of self-adhesive masks for painting the tires and the hubs cleanly is included as well. The set is meant for the plastic Spitfire Mk.IX kit in 1:32 scale from Tamiya.
The replacement wheels bring out the detail of the tire tread, the hub and the wheel compared with the parts from the box. The wheels tend to be cast with a suggestion of flattening at the contact patch, so that on the model they look weighted and realistic. The masks make a sharp transition between the tire and the hub easier, without laborious cleaning up.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the hubs and the tires through the masks supplied, and only then fit the wheels onto the landing gear legs. It is an accessory for more experienced modelers.
The set holds resin wheels and masks. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
