US Aircraft Carrier Deck Crew Set No.6 is a group of figures in 1:32 scale by the Black Dog brand, meant for scenes on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
The word Set in the name means that this is a group of several figures of deck personnel, not a single figure. The sequence label No.6 places it among the later additions to this group by the Czech manufacturer Black Dog. The 1:32 size fits large models of carrier machines.
The launch cycle begins long before an aircraft starts to roll: the elevator brings it up from the hangar, the crew pushes it to the set place and secures it, technicians go over the weapon pylons and the covers, and only then comes the guiding onto the launch track and the last check. The whole sequence is directed by people placed around the machine, and they make themselves understood with their hands. A group of several figures therefore works differently on a model than a solitary figure; only a group shows that this is the interplay of several roles at once.
With a multi-figure group, the placing decides. Do not arrange the figures in a row but in a triangle at different distances from the aircraft, so that the scene gains depth. A slight difference in the shades of the clothing between the individual figures will help too, otherwise the group merges into a single area from close up. Paint them one at a time, leave the eyes and the mouth until the end, and glue the finished figures onto the base only once the overall placing is right.
