Relief 3D-printed decals for the outer surface, not an aircraft kit. Unlike the interior sets, this one details the outside of the model: it adds three-dimensional landing flaps and fine surface panels on the airframe of the Soviet Yak-9T fighter. The parts are applied as a decal onto the outer surfaces. It is shaped for the Yak-9T kit in 1:32 scale from ICM.

The real subject

The Yakovlev Yak-9 was one of the main Soviet fighters of the Second World War. The Yak-9T version carried a heavy 37 mm cannon on the propeller axis, effective against ground and air targets alike.

How the 3D decals are used

• Cut the parts out, dip them briefly in lukewarm water and slide them onto the matching outer surfaces of the model.
• The relief print brings out the structure of the flaps and panels; you then even the surface out with varnish and a wash.
• Press the part into the detail with a soft cotton swab and let it dry. Do not use a decal softener, it would attack the printed resin.
