A pre-cut masking set for the glazing of a model of the Czechoslovak light twin-engine aircraft in 1:72 scale. The masks follow the shape of the transparent parts, so masking comes down to seating and pressing down the individual pieces. On cabin aircraft like the Ae-145 that is a real help: the glazing is extensive, the frames are thin and long, and when cutting tape by hand the width of the frame easily drifts. It is neither a model nor a kit: it is equipment for the painting stage of a model already built.
The Aero Ae-145 is a Czechoslovak light twin-engine aircraft from the family derived from the Ae-45, used for carrying passengers, for ambulance and liaison flights and for training. Its glazed cabin with a good view and its slender engine cowlings are characteristic. It is exactly that glazing that makes the model a rewarding but also laborious subject: the accuracy of the frames shows in the final impression more than on a fighter with a small canopy.
Wash the transparent parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them air-dry. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it down dry and check that it sits on the engraved frames; only then press it down and run the edges over with a toothpick. On long straight frames work from one end so that the mask does not ripple. Spray the paint in several thin coats: a first thin coat in the shade of the frame seals the edge, and any bleed will be lost under it. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry.
The set of masks is an accessory for painting a model. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
