This item is a replacement set of wheels, not a kit of the armored vehicle. The wheels have the deformation of the tire at the point of contact imitated, so the model stops looking as though it were floating above its base. The XML designation and the R20 size describe the type of tire the set imitates.
The Stryker is an American eight-wheeled armored vehicle derived from a Canadian design line of wheeled armored vehicles. It serves as the basis of a whole family of purpose-built renditions, from an infantry carrier through command versions to vehicles carrying heavier weapon systems. The wheels are a very conspicuous feature on it: they take up a large part of the silhouette and their appearance influences the overall impression of the model more than on tracked vehicles.
The XML pattern is intended for combined use, where the vehicle travels a great deal on hard roads; it has a shallower and denser tread than a coarse off-road pattern. When fitting them, take care that the contact patches of all the wheels lie in one plane: on an eight-wheeled chassis any discrepancy is visible at once. Bring out the tread pattern with a dry brush in a light dust shade and leave the sidewalls darker.
