A yellow modeling wire for imitating spark plug leads. Made for detailing the engines of car, motorcycle and aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
Yellow wire imitates the leads to the spark plugs. On a real engine they run from the distributor or the coil to the individual cylinders and tend to be deliberately bright in color, so that they can be told at first glance. That is exactly why they belong among the details that draw the eye most in the open engine bay of a model, and why it pays to add them even where a kit contains nothing of the kind.
Above all in the engines of car and motorcycle models, where the power unit tends to be exposed or the hood can be opened. But it finds a use on radial and inline aircraft engines and on stationary engines in scenes too. The scale is not limited; the yellow shade works equally well in a small scale and a large one. It pays off even where only part of the engine is visible, because even a few barely visible leads noticeably change the impression of the whole engine bay.
Unwind the length you need and straighten the wire by pulling it between your fingers. Shorten the ends at an angle with side cutters; they then go more easily into a pre-drilled hole in the plug and in the distributor. Run the individual leads in a slight curve and measure the lengths beforehand, so that they are not taut. It is glued with super glue applied with a pin in a minute amount.
The shade is a property of the material and a coat is usually not needed. If you do paint it, degrease the surface and apply a primer. Glue, paints and other material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
