About product

What the set is for

In 1:72 scale a figure is measured in millimeters and what the viewer takes in from it is mainly the silhouette. All the more does the head decide: the headgear shows what the figure belongs to, and the way it is turned shows the direction in which the scene is playing out. The set offers heads with the M40 field cap, that is with the soft headgear worn in the field, and so allows the replacement of heads that in a basic set of figures all look the same.

What to do with it on a model

The exchange pays off most in groups. Five figures by a vehicle with five identical heads come across as a production item, whereas varying the headgear and the gazes turns the group into a moment. It also suits wherever you need a figure without a helmet, in a quiet scene in the rear for instance.

  • Replacement heads for figures in 1:72 scale
  • The headgear is the M40 field cap
  • It tells figures apart in an otherwise identical group
  • Suited to small dioramas and to hardware

Building and painting tips

Get out tweezers with pointed jaws and work over a shallow dish; a part the size of a pinhead is looked for on the floor in vain. Cut the original head off at the level of the collar and level the surface out. Cut the excess material away a little way from the part, sand the rest off and wash the part and degrease it; choose the glue according to the material of the parts. The head is most comfortable to paint before it is glued on, stuck on a wooden skewer or on a piece of poster putty. Three steps will see you through: the base tone of the skin, a dark wash into all the recesses and a light touch on the nose and the cheekbones. Do not paint the eyes; in this scale they would spoil the scene.

Who it is for

For builders of small dioramas and for modelers who add crews to hardware in 1:72 scale and want to tell them apart. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Best before gluing, stuck on a wooden skewer or on a piece of poster putty. The base tone of the skin, a dark wash into the recesses and a light touch on the nose and the cheekbones are enough.

No. In 1:72 scale a drawn-out eye would disfigure the face. A dark wash is enough, as it suggests the eye socket on its own.

With tweezers with pointed jaws and over a shallow dish. Cut the original head off at the level of the collar and level the surface out before fitting.

In groups of figures by hardware or in a diorama, where otherwise identical figures come across as a production item.
